World Cup 2010

England are nearly at the starting block. Let’s find out more about our opposing teams. Well, at least the first three teams we have been drawn to play…

Our first game is scheduled for Saturday, 12^th June against USA. The second Friday 18^th June against Algeria & the third is against Slovenia.

Fabio Capello will lead our team to the World Cup this year – some of the players have a point to prove after losing to Portugal on penalties in 2006!

America beat England 1-0 back in 1950. Since that time, Americans now play football full-time. This will be their 9^th appearance at the World Cup & they are definitely hoping to get further than fours years ago when they got knocked out in the group stage in Germany.

Algeria are nicknamed “The Desert Foxes”. They caused a sensation when they beat West Germany in their first World Cup appearance in 1982.

Slovenia reached the finals by the slightest of margins, defeating Russia in a play-off via away goals. A respectable defensive record saw just four goals conceded during qualifying rounds.

Well today’s Red Nose Day 2009 and the theme is “Do Something Funny for Money”.

Judging by the amount of people coming into the shop over the last couple of days, this year’s event will sure to be a marvellous charity event with hopefully loads of money raised for good causes despite the “credit crunch”.
